Update: August 2004 .... progress continues at a fast pace ... heading to the finish line ...

Replicating historic plaster finishes ...
Hallways are beginning to look 'historic' again ...

Preparing for the new elevators to serve the roof terrace means first cutting holes ...

Carpenter crews creating the storefronts as they were in 1910 ... except with modern tools

Behind the scenes incredible complexity lurks to make it confortable and meet modern standards for heating, cooling and electrical

saving historic fabric affected by the work is a big job in itself ... including these original light panels from the roof terrace displaced by the new elevator openings

Tile work in progress on floor five ... and halls beginning to have character they have not had in many many years ....

(see the before pictures for contrast !)

We're starting to be able to see the finished product ... the building is 'looking good' ...

Ductwork in the basement level is almost big enough to swallow a car ...

The installation of electric meters is a milestone in the near future
Giant blowers await installation in the basement level
